Wyndham Tidal Waves - 2026 Pre-Season Updates/ Afterschool Practices
Hello Tidal Wave Families,
The 2026 Tidal Waves Season is almost here with afterschool practices starting on May 18! We are excited that Coach Chad, Coach Greg, and Coach Gabby are returning and we welcome our new coaches Ben Ehrensberger and Sophia Ng! We have a lot of important information to share. Our season calendar is attached and you can find our practice schedule on www.wtwswim.com.
Afterschool Practice Schedule: The pool will be open to the swim team only for practices beginning May 18. During the first week of afterschool practices (May 18 – 21) all swimmers may come to as many practices as they’d like. Parents/guardians and siblings may be in the fenced pool area, but swim team members may only get in the pool during their designated practice time. During the second week of afterschool practices (May 26 – 28) when the pool is open to the community, 8 and unders and MicroWaves should attend no more than two practices due to limited space. No practices on Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day). Water temperatures will be very cool, so bring an extra towel, warm clothes for changing, etc. Please have patience and give our coaches some grace during the first two weeks as there is a lot of excitement, stress, catching up with friends and it sometimes gets a little crazy especially when we are sharing the pool with the community. In the younger groups, we will be focusing a lot on kicking, being safe in the water, and learning a practice routine.
Makeup Swimmers Evaluations: All new swimmers under 10 must be evaluated for placement on the team. If your swimmer needs an evaluation or reevaluation and you haven’t already received an email from me about this, please respond with your swimmer's name and we can arrange a time for an evaluation. Please do not come at your regularly scheduled practice time as our coaches will be very busy with the other swimmers.
Volunteering: A reminder that you must fulfill your four (4) swim meet volunteer shifts for your swimmer to participate in any swim team activities. To view your volunteer shifts, login to your Swimtopia account at www.wtwswim.com , click on your name, and click on My Account. If you need to change one of your volunteer shifts, please contact our Volunteer Coordinators at [email protected]. If you are having difficulty fulfilling your shifts, we have prepared a list of teens to contact located here. Please note that the financial arrangements are to be made between the parent volunteer and teenager (not the Tidal Waves). Our Volunteer Coordinators can be reached at [email protected] and are here to help.
MemberSplash: Information regarding registering or renewing your MemberSplash account for the season is available on the front page of the Wyndham Wire. Please register before the first practice. Please visit https://wyndhamfoundation.membersplash.com.
Communications: We are using SwimTopia for all team communications. Please download this app to your mobile devices which will allow you to RSVP to meets, see your swimmers events, meet times, etc. If you enable notifications, you will get alerts when there are time-sensitive weather or meet delay updates. If you don't enable notifications, you will always get an email. There is a paid version of SwimTopia that provides more features during swim meets, but this is optional. More information to come in future emails regarding RVSPing to meets in SwimTopia. If someone in your family is not receiving these emails, please log into SwimTopia and add them as a contact
Also, we frequently post updates on our Facebook page (Wyndham Tidal Waves) and on Instagram (wearethetidalwaves), so if you're on social media, please join these sites. However, we will always communicate critical information through email via SwimTopia.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
Thanks!
Dana Ozlin
