The Tidal Waves are a summer swim team for members of the Wyndham Swim and Racquet club including Wyndham and Millstone residents. We are a Division 1 team within the Greater Richmond Aquatic League (GRAL). On our team, there’s a place for everyone whether you’re a highly experienced year-round swimmer, or more into other sports and activities and not even sure how to properly swim all the strokes. Our team is made up of swimmers from 5 to 18 years old (swimmers must be 5 years old on June 1 in order to be on the team), an amazing coaching staff, and dedicated parent volunteers whose purpose is to promote and participate in the sport of summer swimming in a safe and fun environment.

Summer swim meets typically occur on Wednesday evenings from early June to late July. Sometimes those meets are held on a Tuesday evening, but the team produces a schedule each year with that information. If the meet is delayed because of weather, we try to make it up the following evening. Since we are in the largest division in GRAL, we can have anywhere from 350-400 swimmers on any given night and it can take several hours to get all the swimmers through all the events. The coaches usually pick the events that the swimmers compete in to give the team the best chance to score the most points. The swimming is fun, but the atmosphere of cheering, food, and being with friends is what makes summer swim team unique.
