Hello Tidal Wave Families,

The 2025 Tidal Waves Season is almost here with afterschool practices starting on May 19! We have a lot of important information to share.

UPDATED Afterschool Practice Schedule: We recently learned that the pool will not open to the community until Friday, May 23, but the pool will be open to the swim team only for practices beginning May 19. During the first week of afterschool practices (May 19 – 22) all swimmers may come to as many practices as they’d like (rather than the Mon/Wed and Tues/Thurs schedule). Parents/guardians and siblings may be in the fenced pool area, but swim team members may only get in the pool during their designated practice time. During the second week of afterschool practices (May 27 – 29) when the pool is open to the community, 8 and unders and MicroWaves should attend no more than two practices. No practices on Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day). Please note that the water temperatures will be very cool during this week, so it may be a good idea to bring an extra towel, warm clothes for changing, etc. Please have patience and give our coaches some grace during this week as there is a lot of excitement, stress, catching up with friends and it sometimes gets a little crazy. In the younger groups, we will be focusing on a lot of kicking, being safe in the water, and learning a practice routine.

Spirit Wear and Swim Suits: Click here for the Spirit Wear store to order swim suits, hoodies, T’s, tanks, and flannel pants. Swim suits will also be available at the NOVA Swim Shop at Regency Square Mall to try on and purchase. Caps can be purchased during the season for $15 if you did not order one during registration. We will reach out at a later date with information on pickup of caps that were purchased during registration. The Spirit Wear shop closes on May 14 to ensure delivery by our first swim meet. Swim suits will be available after this date. Please order soon! Team swim suits and caps are not required but are strongly encouraged.

Makeup Swimmers Evaluations: All new swimmers under 10 must be evaluated for placement on the team. If your swimmer under 10 years old was unable to attend our swimmer evaluations at the YMCA, we will be holding evaluations between 6:15 pm and 7:00 pm during the first week of practices to avoid the busier practice sessions. Please do not show up at your regular practice time. If you haven’t already received an email from me about this, please respond with your swimmers name so that we can look out for them.

Volunteering: A reminder that you must fulfill your four (4) swim meet volunteer shifts for your swimmer to participate in any swim team activities. To view your volunteer shifts, login to your Swimtopia account at www.wtwswim.com , click on your name, and click on My Account. If you need to change one of your volunteer shifts, please contact our Volunteer Coordinators at [email protected]. If you are having difficulty fulfilling your shifts, we have prepared a list of teens to contact located here. Please note that the time and financial arrangements are to be made between the parent volunteer and teenager (not the Tidal Waves). Our Volunteer Coordinators can be reached at [email protected] and are here to help.

MemberSplash: You should have received information from the Wyndham Foundation regarding registering or renewing your MemberSplash account for the season. Please register before the first practice. Please visit https://wyndhamfoundation.membersplash.com.

New this year, we are using the free SwimTopia app which will allow you to RSVP to meets, see your swimmers events, meet times, etc. Please download this app to your mobile devices. Meet results will no longer be displayed in Meet Mobile. More information to come regarding RVSPing to meets.
